Things to do in Madingley

If you ever find yourself looking for things to do in Madingley or around North Cambridge then you should definitely pay us a visit here at The Three Horseshoes pub and restaurant, but we aren’t the only reason to head to this lovely village. Here are just a small selection of lovely things to do around Madingley and Cambridge North:

Madingley Hall is an elegant country house built in the sixteenth century and set in delightful gardens and grounds of about 7 acres, designed in the eighteenth century by Capability Brown. They include flower borders and lawns, a topiary garden and meadows. The glorious gardens that surround Madingley Hall reflect centuries of change and are a must see for anyone visiting the area.

The Cambridge American Cemetery sits on a quiet hillside just down the road from us here at The Three Horseshoes. It is the only military cemetery in the United Kingdom that commemorates American servicemembers and civilian volunteers who died in World War II. Graves fan out across the lawn in sweeping curves and it provides a place of real stillness and reflection.

Coton Orchard is one of the last remaining orchards in Cambridgeshire and perhaps the most picturesque. A haven for wildlife and a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of Cambridge city centre, Coton Orchard is a patchwork of apple and plum trees, strawberry fields, green pastures and grape vines.

The garden centre itself has a Farm Shop brimming with produce from a wide range of locally sourced goods. You will also find Maidenhead Aquatics there who specialise in planted aquariums and have over 35 marine aquariums housing an impressive selection of reef friendly fish.
